Two Important Parts Of Bee Hive Removal Discussed By Expert On Pest Control In Santa Clarita

Bees - Unipest - Pest Control in Santa Clarita

Two important parts of bee hive removal are being discussed by an expert on pest control in Santa Clarita.

First, the time the bee hive removal is performed is key, according to Cardon Ellis of Unipest.

“When it’s below 77 degrees, they don’t like flying too much. When it’s below 55, they kind of almost can’t,” Ellis said. “The cooler it is, the better chance you have of doing it. So the choice is, either go really late at night or go super early in the morning.”

If someone chooses to do a bee hive removal later in the day when it’s warmer instead, the bees will probably be much more aggressive and “angry,” according to Ellis.

The second important part of bee hive removal, which the Santa Clarita pest control experts at Unipest also put into practice, is using smoking pine needles to “sedate” the bees.

The reason for this is because the bee’s pheromone-sensing system gets “clogged” by smoke, and therefore it helps disable the hive’s coordinated “attack mechanism,” Ellis explained.

“It makes it so that the attack pheromone can’t be discharged,” Ellis said. “So it simultaneously calms them and it keeps them from being able to attack… It is akin to anesthesia.”
