Clear Pigeons Out Of The Solar Panels
Birds pooping is a common thing for people to see on certain surfaces such as a roof on a house.
People would usually see bird poop on patios, the floor, the decks, basically anywhere where it’s possible for a bird to land. Unipest Pest Control went to a house to check out a problem where many birds were pooping all around the roof of his house and hanging out on the roof of his house. Unipest didn’t know what type of bird was causing this problem and he didn’t want to make any assumptions until they clearly knew what was the problem.
This type of problem when dealing with a registered pest species is common in Southern California, but it is always important to know what bird it is so that the inspection can be done probably and stop future incidents involving the problem on this person’s house roof.
Unipest made his way up to the roof and made a certain discovery. The roof of the house has solar panels. The birds were pigeons and the pigeons were making nests underneath the solar panels.
This became possible because the solar panels have gaps between the panels and the pigeons are able to fit through and make nests so that they can relax and disgust.

It was Unipest job to move the pigeons out of the way because it will cause problems with the solar panels. Unipest came up with an idea called an exclusion.
Before the start of the exclusion, Unipest wanted to make it clear that there are certain diseases associated with pigeons and it is important to take note of them before they can begin the exclusion. Unipest used a sanitizer called Disinfectant Sanitizer Virucide, also known as DSV. After the roof was sanitized, it was time to begin the exclusion.
The process of performing an exclusion is pretty basic. “You first have to climb to the roof and count out the number of linear feet that you have with the solar panels. It makes it easier when you have to cut out the powder coated hardware cloth that is used to keep the pigeons away from the solar panels,” Unipest said.
“Once it has been cut out, you then attach them to the solar panels with special clippings that don’t require any drilling to keep secure against the solar panels. After that, you want to make sure you make small modifications to make sure the solar panels are secure against the roof of the house,” Unipest said.
Once that is taken care of, you are all done and you won’t have to worry about pigeons getting underneath your solar panels.
